Sarah Tilford, LM, CPM

Sarah has been involved in birth work since 2011, and has served women and families across numerous states, countries and continents. Her journey into midwifery began in China while working with women in crisis pregnancy situations. In her search for practical skills to serve the families she worked with, she felt strongly that God was leading her to pursue midwifery. This was particularly challenging for her, because, although her mother had given birth to to her and her siblings at a birth center with a midwife, she knew nothing about birth and always considered herself a bit squeamish. Nevertheless, she enrolled in midwifery school, moved to Oceanside, CA, and began midwifery training through apprenticeship with Birth Matters, Inc. She was surprised how quickly she fell in love with caring for women and babies, and the beauty and power of birth, and how deeply she felt called to this work. After 8 months, she returned to China, where she was able to serve as a doula and reproductive health educator. Sarah continued studying midwifery through correspondence, and participated in an internship at a birth center in the Philippines. She completed her clinical training in Tulsa, Oklahoma, under the supervision of Faith Morie, CPM, LM, graduated from the National Midwifery Institute, and earned the credential of Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) in 2015. She had a private homebirth midwifery practice for 5 years, serving families in Central and Eastern Oklahoma.

Sarah grew up in Guthrie, OK, graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors of Arts in Letters and Chinese, and now after traveling and living abroad for several years, she loves living in Tulsa, Oklahoma with her husband Micah and their three sons, Jonah, Simon, and Uriah. Sarah and Micah are leaders in their church, and Micah owns a plumbing contracting business. She loves traveling and has visited 30 different countries. Alyssa has been in birth work since 2021 as a doula, birth photographer, and now student midwife.
